Appel Earns National Player of the Week Recognition

Fresh off pitching a no-hitter on Saturday, sophomore Mike Appel was recognized as a Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week it was announced Monday. Appel fired the first no-hitter at CCSU under head coach Charlie Hickey.
Appel fired a nine-inning no-hitter during a 2-0 win over Mount St. Mary's. He was perfect through 4.1 innings and faced just three batters over the minimum and finished with three strikeouts and one walk.
In two career starts against Mount St. Mary's, Appel has gone 2-0 and allowed no runs on just two hits across 16.0 innings. He has struck out six and walked two in that span.
The Blue Devils are back in action on Tuesday, March 21, with a home game against UConn at 3:00 p.m. on CCSU Baseball Field.
