GAME 1: Binghamton 3, CCSU 0
Binghamton took the first game of the doubleheader, 3-0, behind the pitching of Nick Gallagher. Gallagher threw 5.2 shutout innings, allowing just two hits and striking out three to pick up the win.
Binghamton took the lead in the second inning after Eddie Posavec drew a walk to lead off. He moved to second on a wild pitch and over to third on a single. A one-out single by Henry Pellicciotti scored Posavec to make it 1-0.
The Bearcats had five straight runners reach base with one out in the sixth inning. Jason Agresti drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home a run and Justin Drpich plated another with a bases-loaded single to push the lead to 3-0.
Gallagher was perfect through 5.2 innings before senior Nick Landell doubled to the gap in left field and senior Franklin Jennings followed with a liner up the middle that Gallagher was able to knock down, but unable to make a play at first. Freshman Chris Kanios drew a walk to load the bases before the Bearcats were able to leave the bases loaded and get out of the inning without allowing a run.
Senior Brendan Smith started for CCSU and took the loss. He allowed one run on three hits with three walks and four strikeouts.
The Bearcats combined for nine hits, led by CJ Krowiak and Brendan Skidmore with two hits apiece.
Game 2: CCSU 2, Binghamton 1 (10 innings)
The Blue Devils got a pinch-hit single from Guilmette in the bottom of the 10th with two outs to win the day's second game. The CCSU pitching staff held the Bearcats in check over the final nine innings after the visitors scored a run in the top of the first.
BU got a run in the first after Krowiak drew a lead off walk for the Bearcats. Following a pair of strikeouts by sophomore Mike Appel, Skidmore singled through the left side to drive in a run before being cut down at second base to end the inning.
Central collected 10 hits in the second game, with Kanios, junior Nick Garland and senior Ron Jackson collecting two hits apiece. Guilmette and Bowens had an RBI each.
