Baseball Shuts Out UMass Lowell, 5-0
The Blue Devils are back in action on Sunday, April 2, with a doubleheader against Binghamton.
The Central Connecticut baseball team shut out UMass Lowell, 5-0, on Thursday afternoon at CCSU Baseball Field. The win was the squad's second in a row and improved the Blue Devils to 11-10 overall on the season.

Junior Mitch Guilmette collected two hits to lead the CCSU bats, while sophomore Patrick Mitchell tossed 5.1 innings in relief to collect the win.
Central got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after loading the bases with two outs. Freshman Chris Kanios was hit by a pitch to bring in the first run. Classmate Chandler Debrosse followed with a two-run single up the middle to make it 3-0.
The Blue Devils added to the lead in the third after opening the inning with three straight singles. Junior Ryan Costello led off with a hit to left and moved to second on a single from freshman Buddy Dewaine. Guilmette drove in Costello with a single to left center to make it 4-0.
The River Hawks retired 12 straight Blue Devils before Kanios led off the seventh with a single. He stole second base and came around to score on a throwing error after Debrosse put a ball in play to make it 5-0.
Guilmette finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, while Debrosse knocked in two runs and had a stolen base.
Mitchell worked 5.1 inings to go to 2-0 on the season. He struck out two and allowed just two hits. Freshman Mike Delease started and went 3.2 innings. He did not allow a run on five hits, while walking two and striking out a pair. The pair stranded 10 UML baserunners on the day.
Steve Xirinachs took the loss for UML after allowing four runs in 2.0 innings on six hits. Ben Prada had two of the River Hawks' seven hits.
