Rawles and Hurd Earn NEC Athlete of the Week Honors
After their standout performances at the UMass Flagship Spring Opener meet in Amherst, MA this weekend, Tamara Rawles and Alissa Hurd were named the NEC Rookie of the Week and NEC Co-Field Athlete, respectively.
After their standout performances at the UMass Flagship Spring Opener meet in Amherst, MA this weekend, Tamara Rawles and Alissa Hurd were named the NEC Rookie of the Week and NEC Co-Field Athlete, respectively.
Rawles placed eighth in the 400m dash with a time of 59.27, which places her second in the NEC standings for the event. She was also a part of CCSU's 4x400m relay, which snagged fifth with a time of 4:06.76.
Hurd notched a new collegiate best in the high jump, leaping 1.70m to win the event. She currently leads the NEC in the event by .08 meters. She secured her second personal best of the weekend in the 100m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 15.93.
Hurd was also named a Prime Performer alongside teammate Ashley Dana. Dana won the 1,500m race with a time of 4:28.40 and competed in the 800m run, placing second in 2:13.28.
The Blue Devils will be back in action this weekend at the Northeast Challenge Meet hosted by UConn in Storrs, CT.
