Rafter Named NEC Runner Of The Week For Third Time
Rafter won the Flagship Mile by more than 1.5 seconds
For the third time this season, and the second time in as many weeks, Angie Rafter has taken home Northeast Conference Track Athlete of the Week honors. Brooke Morabito joined Rafter on the NEC Prime Performer list.
The graduate student won the mile for the second consecutive meet, running a season-besst 4:48.72 to best the field at the UMass Flaghship Indoor Invitational. Her effort-bested the Mile Flagship runner-up by 1.54 seconds. The effort marks the fifth time in her career that she has run sub 4:50 as a Blue Devil. Rafter earned Track Athlete of the Week last week as well, afer winning the mile at the Wagner Invitational.
Morabito was recognized for her effort in the 3,000m at the event. She placed second in the event with a run of 10:00.36.
The Blue Devils return to action on Friday, January 20 at the Ramapo College Season Opener at the NYC Armory.
