
Smith Named NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Darin Smith, Jr. of the Central Connecticut men's basketballteam was named the Northeast Conference/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Rookie of the Week by the the league on Monday. Abdul Momoh was also recognized with a spot on the league's Prime Performers list.
Smith earned his third Rookie of the Week honor on the season after helping CCSU to a win over UMass Lowell on Sunday. He scored a team-high 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting, while adding two rebounds and three steals in 23 minutes. On the season, he is averaging 10.4 points per game and 2.6 rebounds, while shooting 61.4 percent from the field and 47.6 percent from three-point range.
Momoh finished with 13 points, five rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots in the Blue Devils' win. He was flawless in the second half, shooting 5-of-5 from the field and scoring 11 points. Momoh accounted for six straight points that helped Central go ahead 67-62 in the closing minutes. On the season, he is averaging 8.0 points and 5.7 rebounds, while shooting 65.7 percent. He also has a team-high 11 blocked shots.
The Blue Devils are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to UMass.
