
Men's Basketball Rounds Out Squad For 2024-25
Central Connecticut head men's basketball coach Patrick Sellers has announced the addition of four additional student-athletes for the 2024-25 season. Max Frazier, Devin Haid and Jaelen McGlone will be joining the Blue Devils as transfer student-athletes, while James Jones joins the program via the prep ranks. The quartet join Roddy Jones, who signed with CCSU in November, for the upcoming season.
Frazier, a 6-foot-9 forward from Pittsboro, NC, joins Central as a transfer from Siena where he played in 20 games as a freshman. Frazier averaged 1.7 points per game and 1.5 rebounds per game in 7.8 minutes. He shot .583 from the floor and had 13 blocked shots. He scored a season-high eight points on 4-of-4 shooting against Central Michigan. Prior to Siena, Frazier averaged 8.3 points. 6.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 steals at Northwood High School. In two seasons, he helped the team go 52-7 and earned Third Team All-District and All-Conference recognition. He helped the Chargers go 28-3 and advance to the North Carolina 3A state title game as a senior.
"It's exciting to add an athlete of Max's caliber to our roster," said Sellers. "He has great athleticism and plays with a great deal of energy. We are happy to welcome Max to Central Connecticut and look forward to the positive impact he will bring to the program."
Haid is a 6-foot-5 guard who played at Notre Dame College (OH). In his lone season with the Division II program, Haid scored 15.9 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game. He shot 49.4 percent from the field overall and 36.9 percent from three-point range, while adding 2.4 assists per game and collecting 39 steals. Haid was a All-Mountain East Conference Second Team honoree and had a season-best 34 points against West Virginia State. The Wooster, OH, native earned All-OCCAC First Team honors and Second Team All-Region in 2022-23 at Cuyahoga CC after posting 20.0 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
"We couldn't be happier to have Devin join the Central Connecticut family," said Sellers. "He is an experienced player who can help us in multiple areas and has a great feel for the game. Devin will be a positive addition to the Central family."
McGlone is a native of Cheltenham, PA, and was most recently at East Stroudsburg University for two campaigns. A 6-foot-4 guard, McGlone earned All-PSAC East Second Team in 2023-24 for the Warriors after starting 27 games and posting 12.4 points, 2.1 assists, and 3.7 rebounds in 23.7 minutes per game. As a junior, in appeared in 31 contests and ranked third on the team with 11.3 points per game. McGlone began his career at Rider and appeared in 31 games across two seasons. He posted 2.3 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.4 assists in seven minutes per game.
"Jaelen will give us another experienced veteran backcourt option," said Sellers. "He has an extremely high basketball IQ and has a versatile skillset. We look forward to having someone with Jaelen's experience and ability join our program and the impact he can bring."
Jones is a New Britain native and played a prep season at Worcester (MA) Academy. A 6-foot-6 guard, Jones was the GameTimeCT Player of the Year in 2022-23 and All-State performer at East Catholic where he posted 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists per game, helping the Eagles to the CCC tournament title. He enjoyed a productive campaign at Worcester where he was named most valuable player and earned All-NEPSAC AA recognition. Jones led the team in rebounds, assists, assist/turnover ratio, steals and minutes.
"James is an exciting player who will be coming home to Connecticut," said Sellers. "He has played against top level competition and helps makes his teammates better. We look forward to helping him grow as a player and couldn't be happier to have James in the CCSU family."
