
Jones Named NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Player of the Week; Momoh Prime Performer
Jordan Jones of the Central Connecticut men's basketball team earned Northeast Conference/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Player of the Week honor it was announced on Monday. It was Jones' second honor of the season and he was joined on the league's Prime Performer list by Abdul Momoh after the pair helped the Blue Devils to two wins last week in league play.
Jones led Central last week with 18.5 points per game to go with 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.0 assists. He shot 14-of-21 (.667) from the field overall. Jones had a team-high 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting at LIU in a matchup of league's top-two teams. CCSU trailed 12-8 before he opened an 11-0 run and helped hold the Sharks scoreless for over six minutes that put the Blue Devils ahead for good. Jones had nine points and was perfect from the field in the second half as CCSU led by as much as 24. He followed that up with a game-high 20 points and a team-high six rebounds to go with three steals in win at Stonehill.
Momoh posted 12.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks last week, while shooting 11-of-17 (.647) from the field. He had 10 points, nine rebounds, three blocks, two assists and two steals in win at LIU. He contributed five points in 11-0 run during first half that put CCSU ahead for good. Momoh finished the first period, shooting 3-for-3 for seven points with two blocks in the opening half. He finished with 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting with five rebounds at Stonehill. He powered a 14-0 run in second half that put CCSU ahead for good by scoring six points.
The Blue Devils are back in action on Thursday when they host FDU at 8:00 p.m. in a men's and women's basketball doubleheader carried on ESPN+.
