
Men's Basketball Comes Away with Win at Wagner; Runs Win Streak to 12
The Central Connecticut men's basketball team closed the regular-season with a 55-48 win at Wagner on Saturday night in Northeast Conference action. The Blue Devils would hold the Seahawks without a point for over 10 minutes in the second half to erase a four-point deficit enroute to its 12th straight win, the longest in the nation.
Devin Haid and Jordan Jones paced CCSU with 15 points apiece, while Darin Smith, Jr. had 12 points. Central shot 17-of-45 (.378) overall and was 5-of-16 (.313) from three-point range. The Blue Devils were 16-of-22 (.727) at the foul line.
Zae Blake led Wagner with 17 points. The Seahawks shot 21-of-53 (.396) overall and 5-of-20 (.250) on three-pointers. Wagner was 1-of-5 (.200) at the foul line.

KEY MOMENTS
- Haid would score CCSU's first two buckets, but Wagner would take its largest lead of the period just over four minutes into the game on a three-pointer by Blake to make it 8-4.
- Central would begin to get traction midway through the half with a run of eight unanswered points. Trailing by three, Jones would hit a jumper to open the spurt before Smith, Jr. and Haid hit consecutive treys to make it 15-10 at the 9:09 mark.
- Wagner would match its largest lead of the period with under a minute left in the half on a hook shot by Churchill Bounds to make it 27-23. Haid would hit a trey on the next possession with 0:15 left before Jones gathered a Wagner miss with four seconds left and made a heave from midcourt that went in to send CCSU into intermission with a 29-27 lead.
- In the second half, five straight points would put Wagner ahead 38-34 with 14:54 remaining. Central would proceed to hold the Seahawks scoreless for 10:40 and take the lead. A foul shot by Abdul Momoh would tie the game with 10:31 left before Jaelen McGlone hit a pull-up jumper to make it 40-38. A jumper by Blake ended the Wagner drought with 4:14 left to make it 42-40, but CCSU would not give up the lead and led by as much as 51-44 after a foul shot by Smith, Jr. with 26 seconds left.
