Haid Earns Third Straight NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Player of the Week
Devin Haid of the Central Connecticut men's basketball team earned his third consecutive Northeast Conference/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Player of the Week honor on Monday. Haid was joined on the league's Prime Performer list by Jayden Brown after the pair helped the Blue Devils to two wins last week.
Haid was outstanding last week, becoming just the third player to earn three straight Player of the Week nods. He led CCSU in averaging 18.5 ppg along with 4.5 rpg. He added five steals and three assists, while shooting .667 (14-of-21) from the field overall and .545 (6-of-11) on three-pointers. The junior had 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting with three rebounds, an assist and steal in the Blue Devils' win at Fairfield on Wednesday. At home against Quinnipiac on Saturday, he tied career-high with 24 points on 8-for-11 shooting (5-of-8 on three-pointers). He added six rebounds, four steals and two assists in 30 minutes. He accounted for 16 points in the first half and started the game by hitting his first three trifectas.
Brown enjoyed a solid week by averaging 14.0 ppg, 9.0 rpg and 2.0 bpg.. He added three assists and a steal, while shooting 11-of-20 (.550) overall and 2-of-4 (.500) from the arc. He had his first double-double with 16 points and a career-high 12 rebounds in CCSU's first win against Fairfield since 1987. He scored 10 points with seven boards in 15 minutes in the second half as CCSU held on for a one-point win. He had 12 points, six rebounds and two assists in 28 minutes against Quinnipiac. Ten of those points, along with three rebounds, came in 19 minutes of second half action against the Bobcats.
The Blue Devils are back in action on Sunday, Dec. 29, against Johnson & Wales.
