Men's Basketball Cruises in Win at Army West Point on Wednesday
The Central Connecticut men's basketball team won comfortably at Army West Point, 79-51 on Wednesday in a non-conference game at West Point, NY. The Blue Devils had four players in double-figures and trailed just once in the game after the Black Knights scored on their opening possessions.
Kellen Amos led four Blue Devils in double-figures with 17 points, while Jordan Jones had 15 and Jay Rodgers and Allan Jeanne-Rose chipped in 11 and 10, respectively. Central was 30-of-59 (.508) from the field overall and 10-of-24 (.417) on three-pointers. CCSU was 9-of-12 (.750) at the foul line.
Army was led by Josh Scovens' 16 points and 10 rebounds. The Black Knights shot just 21-of-54 (.389) overall and 5-of-20 (.250) on three-pointers. Army was 4-of-11 (.364) at the foul line.
The Blue Devils host Holy Cross on Saturday for New Britain Day. All residents of New Britain will be admitted free with ID.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central used a 13-0 run over a 3:23 span to take an early double-digit lead. Kellen Amos made back-to-back three-pointers to open the spurt and a trifecta by Jay Rodgers capped the run just over four minutes into the game. CCSU opened the game by shooting 8-of-13 from the field and built a 21-4 lead just 8:22 into the game.
- Army would go on a quick 9-0 run midway through the opening period to climb within 21-15. A three-pointer by Josh Scovens would make it 21-15 with 7:54 to go in the half, but that was the closest the Black Knights could get in in the opening 20 minutes.
- The Blue Devils would push the lead back to double-figures with a run of 11 unanswered points. A layup by Jordan Jones would make it 36-17 with 3:11 to go in the period for Central's largest lead. Army would end a nearly four-minute scoreless stretch to stem the Blue Devils' run but the Black Knights did not have a field goal in the final 6:16 and trailed 39-18 at the half.
- After the Black Knights opened the second half with a three-pointer, CCSU would run off seven straight points capped off by a steal and layup by Jones to make it 46-21 with 17:43 to play. Army would come back with a 7-0 run of its own before the Blue Devils called timeout with 15:57 left.
- A three-pointer by Blake Barker cut the CCSU lead to 52-36 with 11:35 to play, but Army was unable to get any closer. The Blue Devils would lead by as much as 73-43 before winning by the final margin.

- Jones matched his career-high in scoring by halftime, making 6-of-9 from the floor to open the game. Jones added a team-high three steals.
- Amos would finish with a season-high in scoring. He added team-best totals for assists and blocked shots.
- Jeanne-Rose scored in double-figures for the fifth time this season. He grabbeda CCSU career-high seven rebounds to lead the Blue Devils.
- CCSU got points from nine Blue Devils who played in the game.
- The win was Central's first against a D-1 opponent this season.
