Men's Basketball Picked Second in NEC Coaches Preseason Poll
Kellen Amos was named to the Preseason All-NEC Team
The Northeast Conference unveiled the Preseason Coaches' Poll and Preseason All-NEC Team at its 2023-24 Basketball Media Day on Tuesday at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. Central Connecticut collected a first-place vote and was picked second in the poll, while senior Kellen Amos was selected to the Preseason All-NEC Team.

Head coach Patrick Sellers is set to lead the Blue Devils in his third season with an experienced roster that welcomes back three starters and nine letterwinners. Amos was named Second Team All-NEC last season after leading the team with 14.1 points per game, while shooting 45.4 percent from the field. Amos also compiled a league-high 36 dunks during the season and ranked among the top 15 in the NEC in seven stats categories. Central also returns Jay Rodgers and Abdul Momoh to the starting lineup, while welcoming a group of seven newcomers. Among Central's returnees is a test group of guards including juniors Joe Ostrowsky and Davonte Sweatman, which ranked second in the conference last season in turnovers and third in assist/turnover ratio. The CCSU frontcourt also returns a group that includes junior Jayden Brown and ranked third in rebounding margin and third in blocked shots.
The Blue Devils open the season at Rhode Island on Monday, November 6, and will host Framingham State for their home-opener on Monday, November 13.
