Men's Basketball Outlasts Wagner, 69-68, in Overtime
The Central Connecticut men's basketball team rallied for a 69-68 win in overtime against Wagner in Northeast Conference action on Saturday at Detrick Gymnasium. The Blue Devils scored the final nine points of regulation to force an extra period where Kellen Amos hit the game-winning three-pointer with 51 seconds to play.
Amos scored a team-high 17 points, while Jordan Jones added 16 points. Tre Breland and Allan Jeanne-Rose finished with 14 and 13 points, respectively. CCSU shot 24-of-56 (.429) overall and was 8-of-22 (.364) from three-point range. Central was 13-of-20 (.650) at the foul line.
Javier Ezquerra led all scorers with 22 points. Wagner shot 26-of-62 (.419) overall and 8-of-21 (.381) from three-point range. The Seahawks made 8-of-10 (.800) at the foul line.
The Blue Devils host Saint Francis U. on Thursday night.

- CCSU opened the game shooting just 1-of-6 before getting into the flow of the game and making 6-of-8. A three-pointer by Tre Breland would put Central ahead, 16-12, for its largest lead of the period.
- Neither team led by more than three points over the final nine minutes of the half. A jumper by Breland on the Blue Devils' final possession would tie the score at 33-33 at the intermission.
- Wagner built the largest lead of the game at 49-43, following a three-pointer by Javier Ezquerra with 10:52 remaining. CCSU answered with a trifecta from Joe Ostrowsky.
- The Seahawks would build the largest lead of the game at 60-51 following an Ezquerra layup with 4:00 to play. Central would chip away at the deficit and get within 60-58 with 46 seconds to play after two foul shots by All an Jeanne-Rose. After a Wagner miss, the Blue Devils, who closed the game on a 9-0 run, would set up an inbounds with 13.8 seconds left and two foul shots by Jordan Jones would tie the game to force an extra session.
- CCSU scored the first four points of overtime, but Wagner would not allow another Blue Devils field goal for 4:20. The Seahawks would score four straight points to go ahead 68-66 on a Keyontae Lewis layup with 1:12 to go. On the ensuing possession, Jones would find Amos on the win for the go-ahead three-pointer. Wagner would miss a layup in the closing moments to win.
