Men's Basketball Held Off by Northeastern on Tuesday
The Central Connecticut men's basketball team was unable to hold off Northeastern on Tuesday, falling 79-74 at Detrick Gymnasium. The Blue Devils raced out to a double-figure lead in the second half, but the Huskies would chip away before taking the lead for good with 38 seconds to play.
Jordan Jones led CCSU with a career-high 22 points, while Allan Jeanne-Rose chipped in 21 points. Kellen Amos added 17 points and a team-high six rebounds. CCSU shot 28-of-57 (.491) overall and was 6-of-15 (.400) from three-point range. Central was 12-of-15 (.800) at the foul line.
Chris Doherty led four Huskies in double-figures with 21 points. NU shot 28-of-57 (.491) overall in the game and 4-of-15 (.267) from three-point range. Northeastern was 19-of-25 (.760) at the foul line.
The Blue Devils play a Thursday matinee at Fordham. Tip off will be at Noon.

KEY MOMENTS
- Neither team led by more than four points in the opening 12 minutes of the game. After a Kellen Amos jumper put CCSU ahead 24-23 with 8:36 left in the first half, Northeastern would rattle off six straight points to take a five-point lead. Central would cut the margin to three points with 3:05 to go in the half, but NU scored five unanswered to go up 38-30 with 1:32 to go in the half.
- The Blue Devils would close the half with six points in a 52-second span, including consecutive layups by Allan Jeanne-Rose to make it 38-36 at halftime.
- A Jeanne-Rose layup to open the second half would tie the game and CCSU would limit NU to just two foul shots over the next 4:52. An Amos layup opened a run of 15 straight points. Davonte Sweatman would convert a layup off a Jordan Jones steal to make it 53-40 with 14:39 to play.
- Northeastern would tie the score at 59-59 with 8:14 to play and neither team led by more than three points over the ensuing six minutes. A Chris Doherty jumper with 2:41 left would give NU a 71-67 lead.
- The Blue Devils would manage the tie the game twice more, the last coming at 73-73 after Amos converted an alleyoop with 1:09 to play. The Huskies would go ahead on a putback on their next possession and held CCSU without another field goal. NU would convert 4-of-6 at the foul line in the final 21 seconds to hold off Central.

- Northeastern leads the all-time series, 11-2.
- Jones and Jeanne-Rose each scoring more than 20 points marked the first time since Nov. 21, 2018, that two Blue Devils scored 20+ points (Tyler Kohl, 22, Joe Hugley, 21, at Loyola Marymount.
- Jeanne-Rose shot 9-of-14 in the game and added two blocked shots.
- Jones was 7-of-13 overall, 3-of-3 on three-pointers, and had three steals.
- Davonte Sweatman had five points, five assists and four rebounds.
- Northeastern held a 39-23 rebounding edge
