
Men's Basketball Falls to Manhattan on Sunday
A second half rally doomed the Central Connecticut men's basketball team in a 67-63 loss to Manhattan on Sunday at Detrick Gymnasium. The Blue Devils led for all but three-minutes as the Jaspers erased a 13-point deficit.
Allan Jeanne-Rose scored a game-high 25 points to lead CCSU. CCSU shot 24-of-56 (.429) overall, while going 6-of-18 (.333) from three-point range. Central was 9-of-10 (.900) at the foul line.
Four Jaspers scored in double-figures as they shot 23-of-46 (.500) from the field as a team. Manhattan was 6-of-15 (.400) on three-pointers and 15-of-21 (.714) from the foul line.
The Blue Devils travel to UMass on Wednesday for a 2:00 p.m. contest.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central limited Manhattan to just 1-of-7 shooting in the opening five minutes and led 7-2 early on. The Jaspers would convert three straight field goals to get within a point before Kellen Amos and Allan Jeanne-Rose made three-pointers on consecutive possessions for CCSU and pushed the lead back to five points.
- A steal and layup by Davonte Sweatman would boost the CCSU lead midway through the opening half. The Jaspers would hold Central without a field goal for over four minutes and used an 8-2 run to get within 17-16. Tre Breland would hit a three-pointer at the 6:53 mark to spark a 9-0 run. The Blue Devils capped the quick 1:22 spurt with a dunk by Jeanne-Rose to make it 26-16.
- The Blue Devils held an 11-point lead with just under a minute to play before the Jaspers got a jumper with 35 seconds left in the half and cut the CCSU lead to 35-26 at halftime.
- Central would build a 12-point lead and force a Jaspers timeout with 16:39 to play. After Jayden Brown muscled in a layup down low, the CCSU defense came up with a steal that Kellen Amos flushed home to make it 43-31.
- CCSU took its largest lead of the game at 45-32 after a layup by Amos, but Manhattan would chip away at the deficit from there. The Jaspers would score eight consecutive points and got within 48-44 with 11:44 to play.
- After a three-pointer by Joe Ostrowsky gave CCSU a 53-49 lead with 7:00 to play, the Jaspers would claw back for their first lead of the day. A layup by Seydou Traore with 4:54 left capped a string of five straight points and gave Manhattan a 54-53 lead.
- The Blue Devils were held to just two field goals over a seven-minute span but still led 60-58 after a Jeanne-Rose jumper with 2:53 to play. The Jaspers would go ahead for good after a three-poiner by Shaquil Bender to make it 63-60 with 1:43 to play. CCSU would be unable to regain the lead the rest of the way.

NOTES
- The teams were meeting for just the second time and the road team has won each meeting.
- Jeanne-Rose was 11-of-15 from the field. He added four rebounds, an assist and a block.
- Amos finished with 11 points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists.
- The teams each collected 29 rebounds.
