Baseball Ends Season with 6-3 Loss to Monmouth on Sunday Afternoon
The Central Connecticut baseball season came to an end on Sunday afternoon with a 6-3 loss to Monmouth in an elimination game in the Northeast Conference Tournament. Central ends the season with a 26-25-1 overall record. Freshman J.P. Sportman drove in a pair of runs in the loss. Monmouth advances to face Sacred Heart later on Sunday.

The Blue Devils took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. They had three singles in the frame, including an RBI single off the bat of Sportman to score the game's first run.

Monmouth tied it up with a run in the third inning off of Blue Devil starter Harry Glynne. They added another run in the fifth and two in the sixth to take a 4-1 lead.
Glynne pitched five innings allowing nine hits and three runs. He walked one and struck out one. He was relieved by freshman Josh Ingham who allowed an inherited runner and a second Monmouth runner to score in the inning.
Central scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 4-3. Freshman Dylan DelaCruz led off the inning with a single and with one out went to third on a single to right from senior Pat Epps. Sportman's second RBI of the game, a solid single to right center, scored DelaCruz and made it 4-2. With men on first and third and one out, freshman Anthony Turgeon walked to load the bases. Senior Sean Miller-Jones walked to score the second run of the inning.
Monmouth scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to make it 6-3.
The Blue Devils end the season with a 25-25-1 overall record.
