Miller-Jones was named the Akadema/Northeast Conference
baseball player of the week on Monday. Miller-Jones and the Blue
Devils completed a weekend sweep on the road at Quinnipiac on
Sunday, outscoring the Bobcats 43-9 in the four-game set.
Miller-Jones punished opposing pitchers from intrastate rivals
UConn and Quinnipiac last week. Central's senior second baseman
totaled 10 hits, eight runs, and 11 RBI over a five-game span that
was highlighted by the Blue Devils' four-game NEC sweep of
Quinnipiac. Miller-Jones batted .500 (10-for-20) while slugging
1.050 and reaching base at a .600 clip (15-for-25).
After going 2-for-3 with two walks, one RBI, and two runs scored in
a 16-14 mid-week setback to UConn, Miller-Jones logged five
extra-base hits and drove in 10 runs over four games with the NEC
rival Bobcats. He doubled once and homered twice on his way to a
six-RBI performance during Central's 26-3 series-opening triumph
over Quinnipiac.
After providing a run-scoring single and walking once in support of
Dave
Krasnowiecki's 4-0 shutout in Game 2, Miller-Jones doubled home
two runs as part of a 2-for-3 showing in a 6-1 victory that put
CCSU on the verge of completing the series sweep. With Sunday's
series finale deadlocked at 5-5 in the 12th inning, Miller-Jones
delivered the difference. Batting with two outs and no one on
base, the 5-foot-8 middle infielder blasted one over the left field
fence and sent CCSU on the way to an eventual 7-5 triumph.
