Krasnowiecki followed up last week's one-hit shutout win over
Fairleigh Dickinson with a three-hit shutout on Saturday in a 4-0
win over the Bobcats. He struck out six batters and walked three
to improve his record to 4-3 on the season. He has won three
straight decisions and has pitched three shutouts in his last six
starts. His earned run averaged dropped to 3.01 on Saturday.
In the win Krasnowiecki allowed only two runners past second base,
but neither could score. In the first inning he struck out the
first batter and after a walk, stolen base and an error there was a
man on third with one out. He struck out the final two batters to
get out of the inning. He faced more than four batters in an
inning just once, and did not allow a hit over the final nine
batters in the game.
Offensively the Blue Devils had 10 hits, including the first home
run of the season from junior Mitch
Wells. Wells had five hits in Friday's big 26-3 win, and
followed that up with three more in game one on Saturday. Senior
Pat Epps
also added three hits and added an RBI. Freshman Dylan
DelaCruz and senior Sean
Miller-Jones each added an RBI in the game one win.
In the second game it was Neumann's turn to baffle the Bobcat
hitters. He allowed just five hits and struck out five while
allowing one earned run to improve to 5-1 on the season. He was
perfect through 4.2 innings before allowing a pair of hits in the
fifth. Quinnipiac's lone run came with two outs in the bottom of
the seventh inning. Neumann retired the side in order and faced
only three batters in the first, second, third, fourth and sixth
innings.
Offensively Miller-Jones drove in two more runs and had a pair of
hits, including a double. He has nine RBI in the first three games
of the series. Wells, Epps, freshman J.P Sportman and junior Danny
Hickey also drove in runs in the victory. Junior Jake
Matuszak and DelaCruz each had two hits. Matuszak scored
twice.
The Blue Devils and Bobcats will finish the weekend series with a
single game on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.
