Baseball Drops First Game of NEC Series vs. Fairleigh Dickinson
The Central Connecticut baseball team dropped a 7-5 decision to Fairleigh Dickinson on Thursday afternoon in New Britain. The loss is the third straight for the Blue Devils, and drops their overall record to 17-15-1 and their Northeast Conference record to 9-8. Senior Pat Epps drove in a pair of runs in the loss. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 1 p.m.

The Knights scored a single run in the first inning to take a 1-0
lead. Junior Mitch
Wells tied the game with an RBI groundout in the bottom of the
inning. FDU took a 4-1 lead with three runs in the third inning.
Two of the runs were unearned against Blue Devil sophomore starter
Todd
Savatsky.
The Blue Devils tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the
inning. Epps doubled in a pair of runs and the third scored on a
sacrifice fly from classmate Sean
Miller-Jones.
Two more runs in the fourth made it 6-4 in favor of FDU. The Blue
Devils cut the lead in half in the fifth. Junior Jake
Matuszak tripled to lead off the inning and scored on a
throwing error by the Knights to make it 6-5.
Central had a chance to tie the game in the seventh inning, but had
a pair of runners thrown out at the plate, including the final out
of the inning. The Knights scored one in the ninth to make it
7-5.
The Blue Devils and Knights continue their weekend series with a
doubleheader on Friday beginning at 1 p.m.
