Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader at Home on Saturday vs. Bryant
The Central Connecticut baseball team swept a doubleheader with Bryant on Saturday in Northeast Conference action. The Blue Devils won the first game 10-2 and scored twice in the seventh inning to win game two 5-4 With the sweep Central Connecticut is now 5-5-1 overall and 3-0 in NEC. The two teams will finish the weekend series with a single game on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.

won the first game 10-2 and scored twice in the seventh inning to
win game two 5-4 With the sweep Central Connecticut is now 5-5-1
overall and 3-0 in NEC. The two teams will finish the weekend

Bryant struck first in game one with a solo home run in the first
inning from David Soltis.
Central tied the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the third inning.
Sophomore Tyler
McIntyre walked, went to second on a sacrifice and later scored
on an RBI single to center field off the bat of freshman Anthony
Turgeon.
The Buldogs regained the lead, 2-1, on a sacrifice fly from Joseph
Carcone in the top of the fifth inning. Central tied it again,
2-2, with another RBI single from Turgeon in the bottom of the
inning.
The Blue Devils took their first lead of the day in the bottom of
the sixth inning when they scored eight runs to take a 10-2 lead.
Central sent 14 men to the plate in the inning. Freshman J.P.
Sportman and Turgeon each had RBI singles in the inning. It
was the third hit and third RBI of the game for Turgeon. Another
run scored on a passed ball and three scored on RBI walks to Jake
Matuszak, Sean
Miller-Jones and Pat
Epps.
Senior Dave
Krasnowiecki pitched the complete game to earn his first
victory of the season. He is now 1-1 on the year. He allowed two
runs on five hits while striking out three. He did not face more
than four batters in any of the seven innings.
In game two the Blue Devils took an early 2-0 lead in the first
inning. With the bases loaded freshman Dylan Delacruz singled
through the right side to play a pair runs.
The lead reached 3-0 when Sportman singled in a run with two outs
in the third inning. Bryant cut the lead to 3-1 with an RBI
groundout from Mike Delponte in the fourth.
The Bulldogs scored a run in the sixth to make it 3-2. Delponte
had another RBI groundout in the inning.
Central starter Todd
Savatsky pitched 5.1 innings allowing just three hits and two
runs. He struck out one and did not walk a batter.
The Bulldogs scored two in the seventh to take a 4-3 lead. The
Blue Devils scored twice in the bottom of the inning to win their
fourth straight game. Junior Mitch Wells drove in a run with a
double and with two outs Delacruz singled up the middle to plate
the winning run.
