Women's Cross Country Reclaims NEC Title; Morabito Sets Course Record
A record-setting run by Brooke Morabito led the Central Connecticut State women's cross country team at the Northeast Conference Championships on Friday at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT. The Blue Devils won the team title with 39 points, while Morabito finished in 16:39.60 to set a new championship record and pace the field of 77 runners.

NOTABLE
- Morabito set a new championships and course record with her time. She also set a record on the 3k course in Stanley Quarter Park at the CCSU Mini Meet last week.
- The Blue Devils had a pack of four runners finish within seven seconds of each other. Magan Desmarais placed eighth with a time of 18:04.30, Juliana Cancellieri was ninth in 18:07.30, Mya Morabito (18:09.90) was 10th and Rebecca Carusone (18:11.70) placed 11th.
- Kayle Gravel placed 18th overall in a time of 18:46.80.
- Keira Budge finished in 19:14.10 and placed 27th.
- Isabelle Mondo (20:10.20), Alyssa Carusone (20:17.90), Alexandria Klopfer (20:33.0) and Hannah Jackson (22:23.90) also ran for CCSU.
RACE NOTES
- Central has won six of the past seven team titles, including five straight from 2018-22.
- Morabito is the seventh different Blue Devil runner to win an individual NEC title.
- Morabito earned NEC Outstanding Performer honors, while Desmarais, Cancellieri, Mya Morabito and Rebecca Carusone joined her on the All-NEC team.
- Saint Francis U placed second with 39 points, followed by Wagner (62), Stonehill (83) and LIU (167).
