Morabito Honored Again! Named USTFCCCA All-Region
Brooke Morabito has another Central Connecticut State women's cross country first on her resume. She was named to the All-Northeast Region team as released today by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The top 25 finishers at Friday's region meet were honored as all-region selections.
A New Milford High School alumna Morabito raced to an eighth-place finish in the NCAA Northeast Regional. She crossed the finish line as the fifth runner from a team that didn't earn a berth in the championship. Based on her performance, and that four Northeast Region Teams were selected, her performance earned her one of the two individual at-large selections. Morabito is the first Blue Devil in women's cross-country history to earn an at-large selection to the championship, and the second all-time. Ashley Dana won the 2021 NEC individual title and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
A native of New Milford, CT, Morabito won the 2024 NEC Cross Country individual title in a course and conference championship record with a run of 16:39.60. She is also the first Blue Devil to win the New England Championship, doing so in a time of 16:53.18, 20 seconds clear of the runner-up.
Morabito is the second cross-country runner at CCSU to earn All-Region, joining Craig Hunt from the men's program who was honored in 2013.
The NCAA Women's Cross Country Championship is scheduled for 10:20 am ET on Saturday at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course in Madison, WI. The women's championship race is 6K. The Championship will air on ESPNU and ESPN+.
