
Morabito Wins Ted Owen Crown; Team Places Second
The Blue Devils were the top finisher amongst NEC schools
For the second time in as many outings Central Connecticut's Brooke Morabito won the individual crown, running away from the field to win the 20th Annual Ted Owen Invitational. The effort helped CCSU to a second-place team finish, two points in front of NEC rival Saint Francis University.
The Blue Devils are back in action on October 5th at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh.

NOTABLE:
- Morabito stopped the clock at 16:51, two seconds shy of the 2008 course record and 33 seconds in front of the runner-up
- Juliana Cancellieri was the Blue Devils second finisher, crossing in 12th place with a run of 18:17
- Maegan Desmarais placed 26th overall, with 21 points, in a time of 18:44
- Mya Morabito was the fourth CCSU finisher, 18:54, for 27 points and in a virtual tie for 33rd
- Kayle Gravel was the Blue Devils fifth scorer, with 43 points, placing 53rd overall in a time of 19:10
RACE NOTES:
- UMass placed five runners in a row from fourth through eighth place, to win the team race, with 30 points
- Five NEC squads competed at the Ted Owen, which is the site of the 2024 NEC Championships, on November 1st
