Jenna Rae Covello and Amanda McQuillan Earn NEC Weekly Honors
Covello was named the NEC Player of the Week while McQuillan was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Week.
Senior Jenna Rae Covello and junior Amanda McQuillan both earned Northeast Conference honors on Monday. Covello was awarded the NEC Player of the Week and McQuillan was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Week. Both players were the catalysts in the Blue Devils undefeated week with wins over Wagner and Bryant.
Jenna Rae Covello totaled five points on the week, with two goals and adding an assist. The Plymouth, CT native scored the game's first goal at Wagner in the 13th minute. She later sent a beautiful pass across the box, leading to a goal scored by Erica Bardes. On senior night versus Bryant, Covello made a steal near midfield and fired a shot from just outside the box, finding the back of the net.
Goalkeeper Amanda McQuillan posted two shutouts over the week, making a combined three saves. She made two saves on the road at Wagner, one in each half. McQuillan then made a huge save halfway through the first half against Bryant, keeping the Bulldogs scoreless.
McQuillan and Covello were both named NEC Prime Performers along with Kelly Brady, Roma McLaughlin, and Erica Bardes.
The Blue Devils host Mount St. Mary's on Tuesday morning at 11:00 am.
