Women's Soccer Unanimous Top Pick in the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll
Central Connecticut was chosen as the unanimous favorite to win the conference.
The Northeast Conference released its Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll on Wednesday. The Blue Devils were picked as the unanimous favorite, receiving all eight first place votes.
Fairleigh Dickinson, the runner-ups from the 2019 season, was selected to finish second. Following is Sacred Heart and Bryant, who each made the postseason tournament last season. Wagner, Mount St. Mary's, Merrimack, LIU, and St. Francis Brooklyn finished the poll.
The Blue Devils enter the 2020-21 season looking to win their third NEC Championship in a row. Central was able to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2019, after upsetting Rutgers 1-0. Mick D'Arcy enters his 21st season as head coach, with an overall record of 205-154-38 (.564). Central will play an eight-match schedule, with half of the games at home. The 2020-21 Northeast Conference Championship will pit the No.2 seed at No.1 seed the weekend of April 16-18
