Bardes Recognized With President's Citation Award
Senior Erica Bardes of the Central Connecticut women's soccer team was recognized as a winner of the President's Citation award it was announced on Monday evening. The awards are given to outstanding seniors nominated by faculty and staff who are selected based on their leadership on campus, volunteerism, and academic success. While maintaining rigorous academic schedules, they also find time to present research at conferences; compete in academic contests; and complete prestigious internships.
Bardes, who was one of six students honored with the award, majored in Secondary History Education and has been a standout on the CCSU women's soccer team for four years. She has helped the team win three straight Northeast Conference championships and scored the game-winning goal in its match against Rutgers at the NCAA Tournament in 2019. She is a two-time NEC First Team All-Conference selection, and in 2019 was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-North Region Second Team, United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-East Region Second Team and NEWISA All-New England Second Team.
Bardes has also been a standout in the classroom and was recognized as the Northeast Conference Women's Soccer Fall Scholar Athlete as a junior. She has also been named to the Northeast Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll and the Northeast Conference Academic Honor Roll.
