"Our program is excited to add Shauny Alterisio," Binghamton head coach Neel Bhattacharjee said. "Shauny had a terrific playing career at one of the top mid-major programs at Central Connecticut State under Mick D'Arcy. At CCSU she was a steady, no-nonsense defender and had terrific postseason NCAA experience our team will learn from. She is an outstanding addition to our coaching staff.
As a central defender, Alterisio led the Blue Devils to back-to-back NCAA tournament berths in 2018 and 2019 and graduated holding a 28-match home unbeaten streak. In 2019, she helped CCSU record its second NCAA Tounrament win, after upsetting Rutgers in the first round. She played in 79 career games, 74 starts, and scored two goals with six assists while helping lead a defense that had 40 shutouts over four seasons.
She graduated with a bachelor's degree in exercise science from CCSU in May 2020.
Alterisio joins a Bearcats program that has posted double-digit win totals in two of the last three seasons and won a share of the America East regular season crown in 2017.
