Kristina Kelly Picks Up NEC Rookie of the Week
The freshman scored the lone goal in CCSU's win over Fairleigh Dickinson.
Freshman Kristina Kelly of the Central Connecticut women's soccer team was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday. The forward from Rockport, ME scored the lone goal of the game in a 1-0 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday.
Kelly fired two shots on goal throughout the game, finding the back of the net in the second half. The goal came unassisted and gave CCSU a 1-0 lead. Kelly has scored in both games this season for the Blue Devils.
Goalkeeper Amanda McQuillan was named a NEC Prime Performer for the second this year. The junior saved both shots on goal from the Knights on Friday and has tallied nine saves this season without giving up a single goal.
The 2-0 Blue Devils head to Fairfield on Tuesday, Mar. 30 for a match with in-state rival Sacred Heart.
