Brianna Williams Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors
Senior Brianna Williams of the Central Connecticut women's soccer team was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District I First Team it was announced on Thursday. The 2020-21 Academic All-District Women's Soccers Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Williams, a Social Work major out of Tomkins Cove, N.Y., posted a 3.88 GPA and was also named to the United Soccer Coaches Academic All-Region First Team earlier this spring. She was the catalyst of the CCSU defense that helped the Blue Devils capture their third straight league title. She was named the Northeast Conference Defender of the Year in 2020-21 and also earned a spot on the All-Northeast Conference First-Team.
She appeared in 58 career games, helping CCSU to a 46-16-6 record. Williams tallied two goals and two assists while helping the CCSU defense collect 26 shutouts. She also earned a spot on the 2019 NEC All-Tournament Team, while being recognized on the NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll and the NEC Academic Honor Roll.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early July.
