Women's Soccer Remains Perfect With A 3-0 Shutout Over Wagner
Three different Blue Devils scored in a commanding team victory on Tuesday night.
The Central Connecticut women's soccer remained perfect in a 3-0 shutout over Wagner on Tuesday night. Three different Blue Devils scored in the match and Central posted its fourth straight shutout.

The Blue Devils started slow, unable to find a quality opportunity on goal until 12 minutes into the game where Kelly Brady had a breakaway. She pushed the shot and missed wide left and the game remained scoreless.

Shortly after the missed shot, Central found itself in striking distance again. Freshman Kristina Kelly sent a beautiful header from midfield to fellow freshman Kelly Brady. Brady then sent a pass to Jenna Rae Covello who was streaking on the right side and sent a shot into the back of the net. The goal was the second of the season for Covello and gave CCSU a 1-0 advantage.

With just under eight minutes remaining in the first half, the Blue Devils drew a foul at the top of the box and Roma McLaughlin went to take the free kick. The junior out of Greencastle County Donegal, Ireland sent a strike past the diving keeper and gave CCSU a 2-0 lead. Central would take the two goal lead over Wagner into halftime.

Central found its third goal of the night, after Jenna Rae Covello delivered a phenomenal pass to Erica Bardes in the box who finished with the right foot. The goal was the first of the season for Bardes and gave Central a commanding 3-0 lead.
NUMBER TO KNOW
4 – The Blue Devils posted its fourth shutout of the season and has yet to allow a goal. The Blue Devils stand at 4-0 overall and in NEC play.

Defender Erica Bardes put two shots on goal and eventually found the back of the net in the second half.

Junior Roma McLaughlin scored her second goal of the season on a free kick from the top of the box.

The Blue Devils assisted on two of three goals, with passes coming from Kristina Kelly, Kelly Brady, and Jenna Rae Covello.

Central sent a total of 23 shots in the match with 13 on goal. The team held Wanger to just two shots on goal in another stellar defensive effort.

Goalkeeper Amanda McQuillan saved both shots and has yet to allow a goal in the season.
