The Blue Devils Shutout Bryant on Senior Night
Roma McLaughlin and Jenna Rae Covello each score in a 2-0 win on Friday night.
The Central Connecticut women's soccer team posted its fifth straight shutout and remained perfect in a 2-0 victory over Bryant on senior night. Both Roma McLaughlin and Jenna Rae Covello scored a goal for the Blue Devils.

Central struck quickly with a goal just 4:15 into the game by junior Roma McLaughlin. Erica Bardes and Kelly Brady were each awarded an assist for two key passes setting up McLaughlin. The goal marked the third of the season for the midfielder out of Ireland.

Bryant didn't have many scoring opportunities throughout the game, but found one nearly halfway through the first half. However, Amanda McQuillan kept her shutout streak alive with a wonderful save on a shot by Katie Cronin. Central would take the 1-0 lead into halftime.

Junior Jamie Collimore nearly added a second goal early in the second half, but pulled her shot by a hair and missed wide left.

Jenna Rae Covello was able to connect, after she made a steal near midfield and fired a shot from the top of the box for a goal. Covello was able to score on senior night and gave Central a 2-0 lead with 23 minutes to play.

The Blue Devils defense played another superb match, not allowing Bryant to take a shot the rest of the way and lead CCSU to a 2-0 victory.

Before the match began, Central honored its four seniors Tess Atkinson, Brianna Williams, Erica Bardes, and Jenna Rae Covello in what will be one of their final home games as a Blue Devil.

Roma McLaughlin and Jenna Rae Covello each scored their third goal in five games.

Kelly Brady earned her third assist of the season and Erica Bardes got her first assist on the passes setting up the McLaughlin goal.

Goalkeeper Amanda McQuillan once again posted a shutout, making one save on the night. She now has 13 saves and no goals allowed all year.
