Women's Golf Finishes Seventh At Delaware
Ella Williams finishes 16th at UD Invitational.
The Central Connecticut women's golf team fell to seventh place on Sunday after the final round of play at the UD Lady Blue Hen Invitational in Rehoboth Beach, DE. The team shot a final round score of 331 to give them a three round score of 981. CCSU was just 10 strokes away from recording a top-five finish.
Sophomore Ella Williams carded a final round score of 82 to give her a three round total of 240, good for a 16th place individual finish.
Junior Sarah Boden led the Blue Devils in the third round recording another 81, her third of the tournament, to give her a three round total of 243. Boden finished the tournament in a tie for 21st, her best finish of the year thus far.
Sophomore Kaitlyn Stoddart fired a third round 83 to finish with a three round score of 253 and a 39th place finish. Right behind Stoddart were freshmen Cecy Gutierrez and Tara Whelan. Gutierrez finished in a tie for 40th place after carding a third round 86 and a 254 total score. Whelan finished in a tie for 42nd with a three round total of 255. She fired an 85 in the third and final round of play.
Georgetown won the tournament with a team score of 922, followed by Penn (927), Delaware (941), Towson (956), Richmond (971) and Long Island (977). Central finished seventh ahead of Navy (986), Delaware B (991) and Delaware State (1031).
This tournament marks the end of the fall season for the Blue Devils. CCSU will return to action in the spring.
