Women's Golf in Second After Day One at NECs
Blue Devils will tee off in round two on Saturday.
The Central Connecticut women's golf team sits in second place, just four strokes off the lead, after the first round of the Northeast Conference Women's Golf Championship on Friday. The tournament is being played at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, FL.
The Blue Devils shot 318 in the opening round to rank second in the seven-team field, just four shots behind Wagner (314). Sacred Heart (320), Fairleigh Dickinson (322), Saint Francis U (324), LIU Brooklyn (326) and St. Francis Brooklyn (340) rounded out the field.
Sophomores Kaitlyn Stoddart and Ella Williams led the Blue Devils, each shooting 79 to tie for sixth overall on the individual leaderboard. Freshmen Cecy Gutierrez and Tara Whelan each shot 80 and are tied for 12th. Junior Sarah Boden shot 90 and is in 33rd place.
Round two will take place on Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. with the third and final round on Sunday.
