Women's Golf Finishes T7th at Towson on Monday
Stoddart paces the Blue Devils on day two with a 76 (+4)
The Central Connecticut women's golf team climbed three spots on day two and finished the Tignanelli Towson Invitational in a tie for seventh place after Monday's second round. Sophomore Kaitlynn Stoddart led the scoring on Monday for the Blue Devils, who improved six total shots as a team to climb three spots in the final standings.
RESULTS
The tournament was played at the Towson Golf & Country Club and is a par-72 course.
Central shot a day one total of 321 on Sunday, and on Monday posted a score of 315. Stoddart led the way with a 76, followed by a 79 from freshman Cecy Gutierrez who was playing in her first collegiate tournament over the weekend.
Delaware and Towson tied for the team title, each shooting 608 for the two round tournament. LIU Brooklyn was third (620), followed by Bethune-Cookman (623), Albany (630), St. Francis U (632) and then CCSU and Fairfield, each with a 636.
Stoddart was the top individual finisher for the Blue Devils with a two round total of 154, finishing in a tie for 14th place overall.
Freshman Tara Whelan shot an 80, as did sophomore Sarah Boden, improving six shots from her score on Sunday.
Sophomore Ella Williams fired an 82 on Monday. Williams finished in a tie for 30th place overall with a total of 158. Gutierrez and Whelan each finished in a tie for 49th at 163 and Boden was in a tie for 59th place with a 166.
The Blue Devils will return to action at the end of the month at Yale.
