Women's Golf 10th After Day 1 at Towson
Williams sits in a tie for 14th place
The Central Connecticut women's golf team sits in 10th place out of 15 teams after the first round of the Tignanelli Towson Invitational on Sunday. Sophomore Ella Williams is in a tie for 14th place after shooting a round one score of 76. The Blue Devils shot a round one score of 321 as a team.
Sophomore Kaitlyn Stoddart shot a round of 78 and sits in a tie for for 25th place overall. Freshman Tara Whelan (83, T56) and Cecy Gutierrez (84, T59) played their first collegiate rounds for the Blue Devils on Sunday.
Junior Sarah Boden shot an 86 and is tied for 68th place overall.
The Blue Devils are in 10th place in the 15 team field after the first round. The tournament is being played at the Towson Golf & Country Club in Phoenix, MD.
Central's team score of 321 is just 11 shots out of the top-five in the tournament. Towson and Delaware are tied for first place with a score of 303, followed by Fairfield (309) and St. Francis U and LIU Brooklyn who each shot a 310.
The second and final round will begin on Monday morning at 8 a.m.
