Men's Golf Picked Sixth in Northeast Conference Preseason Poll
Blue Devils open spring season on April 3
The Central Connecticut men's golf team was picked sixth in the 2016 Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll released on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will open the spring season on Sunday, April 3 at Lafayette.
The 2016 NEC Championships will be held at the LPGA International Jones Course in Daytona Beach, FL, beginning on Friday, April 29.
Bryant was picked to win the title, followed by Robert Morris, FDU, LIU Brooklyn, Saint Francis U, CCSU, Wagner, Sacred Heart and then St. Francis Brooklyn.
The Blue Devils finished the fall season with a second place finish among Division I schools at the NEIGA Championships in October. They shot rounds of 312-304 to finish as the runner-up among DI schools.
Eight different Blue Devils saw action in the fall, led by sophomore Anthony Sebastianelli who averaged 74 strokes per round in 13 rounds of play. He had two top-10 finishes including a tie for fourth place at the Ryan Lee Memorial Tournament in September.
Senior Jack Ayers (76.7) and sophomore Brandon Raine (77.4) saw action in 11 rounds in the fall. Raine tied for 21st place at the Ryan Lee and Ayers tied for 29th at the Leo Keenan Invitational in September.
Senior Connor Murphy averaged 76.3 strokes and tied for fifth at the NEIGA Championships. Sophomore Austin Forauer finished fourth in the same event. Forauer played nine rounds (78.2) as did junior Nick DiReda (79.3).
