Blue Devils Finish Second at NEIGA Division I Championship
Forauer finishes in fourth place overall to lead CCSU
Three Central Connecticut men's golfers finished in the top five as the Blue Devils finished in second place at the 81st Annual NEIGA Division I Championships on Monday afternoon. The tournament was held at The Captains Course in Brewster, MA and was a par-72.
The Blue Devils shot a day two score of 304 and finished the two-day tournament with a total of 616 (+40) to finish eight shots behind Bryant (608). Fairfield was third (626), followed by UMass-Lowell (634), Holy Cross (637) and Providence (655).
Central sophomore Austin Forauer shot a team-best score of 73 (+1) on Monday to lead the Blue Devils. He shot 150 for the tournament, including a 77 on Sunday in the first round.
Senior Connor Murphy followed a round one score of 76 with a 77 on Monday and finished in a tie for fifth place with sophomore teammate Anthony Sebastianelli with a score of 153. Sebastianelli shot 78-75.
Forauer, Murphy and Sebastianelli were all named All-New England for their efforts in the two-day tournament. There were six total All-New England selection for the Division I teams.
Junior Bryant Bolden shot 81-79 (160) to finish in a tie for 14th place overall. Junior Nick Direda shot 85-82 and finished in 28th place overall with a score of 167.
The NEIGA Championship concludes the fall season for the Blue Devils.
