Blue Devils Compete at Finegan Invitational hosted by La Salle
Nick Direda leads Blue Devils with two-round score of 148
Junior Nick Direda shot a two round score of 148 to finish in a tie for 13th place overall as the Central Connecticut men's golf team competed in the Finegan Invitational on Monday. The 36-hole one day tournament was hosted by La Salle University at the Philadephia Country Club in Gladwyne, PA.
Direda fired rounds of 77 and 71 to lead the Blue Devils to a ninth place finish in the 14 team field.
Drexel and Navy tied for the team title with scores of 593. Lehigh was third (594), followed by Lafayette (595), Villanova (598), La Salle (599), Rider (602), Monmouth (608), CCSU (613), Iona (616), Niagara (636), Bucknell (639), Alvernia (674) and St. Francis Brooklyn (694).
Junior Bryant Bolden tied for 28th place overall after shooting a 153 for his two rounds. He shot 75 in the first round to lead the Blue Devils, and fired a 78 in round two. Direda's 71 in the second round was the best round of the day for the Blue Devils and the fourth best round in the field overall.
Sophomore Anthony Sebastianelli shot 81-75 (156) to finish in a tie for 38th place, along with senior teammate Jack Ayers. Ayers shot 79-77. Junior Matthew Mahlke shot 86-93 and tied for 68th place overall.
The Blue Devils are back in action on Saturday and Sunday at the Til Duty is Done Collegiate at Mohegan Sun Country Club, hosted by the University of Connecticut.
