
Divers Jumpstart Swimming & Divings NEC Title Defense
Blue Devil divers went 1-2-3-4-6-7 on the 3-meter board Wednesday night
The Central Connecticut State divers jumpstarted the Blue Devils 2025 Northeast Conference Championship appearance. All six divers qualified for finals on the 3-meter board and accumulated 91 points Wednesday night.
The Blue Devils, the two -time defending NEC Champions, sit atop the team standings following the first three events with 155 points. Howard is second with 86 points and Wagner is third with 85 points.
The four-day championship, at the Spire Institute in Geneva, OH, resumes Thursday morning at 10:00 am with preliminary heats of the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free and the 1-meter diving.
DIVING
- Kaitlyn Carroll took the top spot after leading all but one round, and finished with 237.75 points
- Zoe Baker qualified sixth into finals and was in that position after two dives Wednesday night, before battling to the silver medal, with 228.85
- Elyse Boothroyd captured bronze, scoring 222.45 points, nearly 10 points higher then in prelims
- Rachel Giroux added three points to her prelim score to finish in fourth place, with 219.05 points
- Kristin Krause (201.75) and Asa Bannerman (184.95) took sixth and seventh in their NEC Championship debuts.
RELAYS
- The 800-freestyle relay capped the evening as the Blue Devils swam to a silver medal in a time of 7:27.77
- Gabby Spaciano led off with a 1:52.99 and was followed by Abbey Keane, who spit 1:52.60
- Sophie Milhomens went 1:51.85 on the third leg and Megan Dunnigan brought home the anchor leg with a 1:50.33
- The 200-medley relay opened the night with a fifth-place finish, with Milhomens, Grace Young, Lauryn Cowing and Katrine O'Leary putting 28 points on the team total
