Keane, Milhomens Post Wins On Day One Versus New Hampshire
The Blue Devils home opening two-day dual with the Wildcats concludes Saturday morning/
The Central Connecticut State swimming and diving team opened the home portion of its dual meet season with the first day of a two-day dual meet with the University of New Hampshire. Through 10 events, the Wildcats lead 118-68.
The two-day dual concludes Saturday at Suydam Natatorium. The meet begins at 11:00 am.
FREESTYLE
- Gabby Spaciano finished second in the first individual event, the 200 freestyle, with a swim of 1:58.38
- Abbey Keane was the third finisher in that event, going 1:59.24, while Maggie Rutledge placed fifth (1:59.76)
- Katrine O'Leary took second in the 50-freestyle, going 25.04, with Lauryn Cowing third at 25.67
- Keane won the 1,000-freestyle, at 10:34.87, splitting 5:16.25 and 5:18.62
- Rutledge took third in the 1,000 with a swim of 10:42.54, while Taylor Demarest placed fifth with a time of 11:15.94
STROKES
- Sophie Milhomens took home the first victory of the night, capturing the 100 backstroke with a swim of 59.20, .02 in front of the runner-up and rookie Amanda Cieslik was fifth.
- Grace Young (1:10.25) and Victoria Okurowski (1:12.22) were fourth and fifth in the 100 breaststroke
- Gabi Wroblewski was the third finisher in the 200-butterfly, touching at 2:10.92 and Kyle Behrle touched fifth in a time of 2:17.01
- Wroblewski took third in the 200 IM at 2:13.72 and Young placed fifth with a swim of 2:23.11
DIVING
- Kaitlyn Carroll finished second on the 3-meter board, tallying 240.45 points, just shy of four points of the top spot
- Zoe Baker (232.65) and Jewelle Maziarz (224.50) were fourth and fifth respectively
RELAYS
- O'Leary, (25.07), Cowing (24.96), Spaciano (25.17) and Megan Dunnigan (25.19) captured second in the opening 200 freestyle relay, going 1:40.39
- Milhomens (59.18) Young (1:09.80), Dunnigan (1:00.54) and O'Leary (52.72) were second in the final event of the day, the 400-medley relay.
