Swimming And Diving Splits Dual Meets With SCSU And Wagner
Maziarz, Dunnigan both pick up wins
The Central Connecticut State swimming and diving team split dual meets on Friday night. The Blue Devils defeated Southern Connecticut State 138-82, while falling 126-96 to Wagner in a meet hosted by SCSU.
The Blue Devils return to action on Friday, November 8 at Suydam Natatorium when they host Friday Night Sprints.
FREESTYLE
- Taylor Demarest swam 10:57.95 in the 1,000 free to take home second place, while Sophia Pincince clocked a fourth-place finish with a swim of 11:16.59
- Lauryn Cowing was the fourth-place finisher in the 50-freestyle, going 25.21
- Katrine O'Leary finished in the runner-up slot in the 100 free, with a swim of 54.15, just .13 off the winning time
- Gabby Spaciano was fourth in the race, with a swim of 54.74
- Maggie Rutledge clocked a 5:11.33 to take second place in the 500 free
- Spaciano finished third with a 5:13.80 and Lauren Lord was fourth with a swim of 5:23.10
STROKES
- Megan Dunnigan finished second at 1:56.65 in the 200 freestyle, just in front of her teammate, Sophie Milhomens, who touched third at 1:57.05
- Gabi Wroblewski took home bronze in the 200 IM with a swim of 2:15.33
- Milhomens went 2:09.07 to take home second place in the 200 fly, with Kyle Berhle (2:14.52) and Marley Milne (2:17.20) in the next two spots
- Dunnigan picked up the win in the 200 backstroke, putting up a time of 2:08.07, more than two seconds clear of the second-place finisher
- Grace Young took silver in the 200 breaststroke, .01 behind the winner, touching with a time off 2:27.65
DIVING
- Jewelle Maziarz won the 1-meter diving, scoring 221.05 points
- Zoe Baker was close behind with 219.55 points and Kaitlyn Carroll took third with 204.20 points
- Kristin Krause tallied 176.05 points and Rachel Giroux scored 155.45 points
RELAYS
- Milhomens (27.51), Young (31.86), Cowing (26.33) and O'Leary (24.59) captured second in the 200 medley relay, with a time of 1:50.29
- O'Leary (25.00), Cowing (25.00) Dunnigan (24.69) and Spaciano (25.05) combined to go 1:39.74 in the 200 freestyle relay, good for second place.
