
Wroblewski Wins 400 IM On Second Day Of Dual With UNH
Blue Devils had four individual runner-up finishes on Saturday
The Central Connecticut State swimming and diving team completed its two-day dual meet with the University of New Hampshire on Saturday at Suydam Natatorium. The Wildcats earned the victory in the meet with a 231-122 advantage.
The Blue Devils are back in action on Friday, November 1st, travelling to Southern Connecticut State for a double-dual with the Owls and Wagner.
FREESTYLE
- Lauryn Cowing took second in the 100 freestyle, with a swim of 54.93, just in front of teammate Gabby Spaciano, who finished at 55.10
- Abbey Keane went 5:10.05 in the 500, taking second place and Maggie Rutledge was fifth with a swim of 5:18.45
STROKES
- Gabi Wroblewski earned the top spot in the 400 IM, taking the lead during the third leg and finishing with a time of 4:38.21
- Kyla Behrle (4:56.83) and Marley Milne (4:57.39) were fourth and fifth in the IM on Saturday
- Sophie Milhomens missed a sweep of the backstrokes by just .10 seconds, finishing second in the 200 back with a time of 2:05.33
- Cowing earned second in the 100 butterfly, touching at 59.59, with Megan Dunnigan fourth at 59.98
- Grace Young took third in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:33.45 performance, and rookie Veronica Okurowski took fourth at 2:38.53
DIVING
- Jewelle Maziarz captured second on the 10meter board, putting up a score of 237.98
- Kaitlyn Carrol placed fourth at 229.20 and Zoe Baker was fifth with a final tally of 223.20
RELAYS
- Milhomens (27.56), Young (32.27), Dunnigan (26.54) and O'Leary (24.88) took second in a time of 1:51.25 in the 200-medley relay to open the second day of competition
- O'Leary (54.18), Milhomens (54.61) Spaciano (54.67) and Dunnigan (54.87) combined for a second-place finish in the final race, the 400 free relay, for a time of 3:38.33
