Women's Soccer Stopped by Manhattan on Wednesday
First half goal proves to be the difference.
The Central Connecticut women's soccer team came up short against Manhattan on Wednesday night, falling 1-0 at CCSU Soccer Field. The Jaspers scored the game's only goal just before halftime and held off the Blue Devils in the second half.
The Blue Devils are back in action on Sunday when they travel to Holy Cross for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.

KEY MOMENTS
- CCSU had four of the games first five shots in the opening 25 minutes, but were unable to get by Manhattan's Margaret Brunk who made a pair of saves.
- The Jaspers would score the game's only goal, just before halftime, when Samantha D'Angelo slipped a pass from the right wing to Olivia McMaster. McMaster took the ball in the penalty area and got a sliver of space to put a low shot into the right corner to make it 1-0 at 44:01.
- Central had a pair of dangerous scoring opportunities in the opening minutes of the second half, but the shots sailed high.
- Manhattan had its best chance to double the lead just over 10 minutes into the period, but Melina Ford would make a stop of Amaya Hill's shot to keep the margin at one goal.
- CCSU would outshoot Manhattan, 3-0, over the final 17 minutes in search of the equalizer, but were unsuccessful.

NOTES
- The teams were meeting for just the second time with the Jaspers winning both meetings by identical, 1-0, scorelines. The last matchup came on Aug. 25, 2006.
- Ford finished with three saves in the game.
- Emma Radoncic played all 90 minutes and led the Blue Devils with three shots.
- Central had a 13-11 edge in shots and had a 5-3 margin in corner kicks.
