Women's Soccer Tabbed As Preseason NEC Favorite
The Blue Devils won the 2023 NEC Tournament
The Central Connecticut State University women's soccer team was tabbed as the Northeast Conference preseason favorites it was announced on Tuesday. The Blue Devils were the resounding pick of the league's coaches, collecting nine first place votes, while FDU and LIU each got one first-place vote.
- Head coach Mick D'Arcy will begin his 25th season in charge of the Blue Devils.
- Since 2018, CCSU has won FIVE regular season NEC Championships and FIVE NEC Tournament trophies and owns a 44-3-6 record in conference play.
- Central has won 13 Northeast Conference championships, including 11 under D'Arcy.
- FDU was tabbed second and had one first-place vote. Howard, Wagner, Saint Francis U and LIU rounded out the top six.
- The Blue Devils open Northeast Conference play at LIU on September 22, and will host FDU on Sep. 26 for its league home-opener.
- CCSU will host Stonehill (Oct. 31) to close out the regular season.
- The 2024 NEC Tournament will feature the top-four teams from the regular season standings playing for an NCAA Tournament berth.
