Maurer Named NEC Player of the Week
Charlotte Maurer receives NEC Player of the Week honor.
The Northeast Conference honored Central Connecticut women's soccer player senior Charlotte Maurer as the NEC Player of the Week as announced by league office Tuesday afternoon.
Maurer scored two goals and an assist for five points in a pair of conference wins that improved Central's record to 3-0 in the NEC.
The Northampton, MA product scored an early goal on Friday to give the Blue Devils a lead over Fairleigh Dickinson that they would not relinquish in a 2-1 victory. She received a looping ball from classmate Danielle Pearse that she was able to sneak into the bottom left corner past the keeper for the first goal of the game.
The senior added a goal and an assist in a 6-1 win over Wagner on Sunday, notching her second tally of the week with a one-touch goal on a pass from junior Carla Jackson. Maurer assisted on CCSU's fifth goal of the match with a give-and-go that freed Pearse for her second goal of the tilt. Maurer has scored in three straight games and ranks second in the NEC in both goals (7) and points (15).
The Blue Devils return to action Friday, Oct. 5, when they host Sacred Heart at 6 p.m. in New Britain, CT.
