Tachibana Scores for Women’s Soccer in 1-0 Win over Rhode Island
Yo Tachibana scores the only goal of the night for the 1-0 victory over Rhode Island.
The Central Connecticut women's soccer team beat University of Rhode Island 1-0 on Thursday night in New Britain, CT. Junior Yo Tachibana tailed the only goal of the game, her second of the season.
CCSU improves to 4-1-1 on the season, while the Rams fall to 0-6 overall.
The Blue Devils opened the game at the 25:40 minute mark when senior Shelbie Carr took a shot that was stopped by the URI keeper, but Tachibana was there to collect the rebound and bury her shot to make it 1-0.
Central would make the lead hold for the rest of the game to settle the result. The Blue Devils finished with nine shots, while the Rams had four.
Senior Ashley Cavanaugh made three saves for CCSU in the game, while Rhode Island's Haley Brennan also had three saves.
CCSU will return to action when it hosts Lafayette on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at CCSU Soccer Field.
