Women's Soccer ends in a 0-0 Tie Against Seton Hall
The Blue Devils record their fourth shutout of the season.
The Central Connecticut women's soccer team had a 0-0 tie against Seton Hall Sunday afternoon in New Britain, CT. Tonight's match is the fifth shutout in the last six games for the Blue Devils.
CCSU is now 6-1-2 on the season, while the Pirates are 2-3-3 overall.
Despite a scoreless first half, the Blue Devils got three shots on goal including a long shot fired by sophomore Jenna Rae Covello, which bounced of the goal keeper's hands.
During the first overtime Central had a chance to get on the board off a shot from junior Yo Tachibana. She ripped the ball to the bottom left of the net but the keeper saved it.
In the second overtime, the Blue Devils took eight shots on goal over the Pirates who had zero. At the 107:34 mark, senior Nicole Russell crossed the ball right in front of the net to find sophomore Tess Atkinson who headed the ball just too high over the net.
Senior Ashley Cavanaugh recorded another shutout, her fourth on the season. Central's defense has not given up a goal in the last 418:26 of play. Cavanaugh finished with nine saves in the goal for the Blue Devils, Anna Maclean finished with 10.
Central returns to action at noon on Sunday Sept. 23, when it travels to Moon, PA. to play Robert Morris for the first Northeast Conference game of the season.
