Jackson Named NEC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week
Carla Jackson finished with one goal and two assists to earn NEC Player of the Week
Junior midfielder Carla Jackson was named Northeast Conference Player of the Week it was announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Jackson finished with a goal and two assists while playing a pivotal role in a pair of CCSU wins over American and Ivy League opponents last week. The midfielder contributed to both goals in a 2-0 victory over Yale last Thursday, scoring the first on her own with a beautiful corner kick that found paydirt at the 55:36 mark of the second half. Just two minutes later, Jackson found freshman teammate Tiegan Ruddy off a give-and-go to give the Blue Devils breathing room.
Three days later in a 3-1 win at Temple, Jackson found another freshman teammate, Abbey Chase, to push CCSU ahead by two goals right before halftime. The Glasgow native finished the week involved in three of her team's five goals.
With the recent victory at Temple, the Blue Devils are on a two-game winning streak. Central returns to action Thursday, Sept. 7, when it faces the University of Rhode Island at home in a 7:00 p.m. contest.
