Women's Soccer Trio Earn All-Region Honors
Charlotte Maurer is now eligible for All-America recognition.
Three members of the Central Connecticut women's soccer team earned United Soccer Coaches All-North Region honors it was announced. Senior Charlotte Maurer was named to the First Team, while senior Danielle Pearse and junior Shauny Alterisio were named to the Second Team.
Having earned First Team recognition, Maurer is now eligible for All-America honors. The three all-region selections is the best representation that Central has had in a single season.

Maurer, who was the 2018 Northeast Conference Midfielder of the Year, totaled 21 points on eight goals and five assists as a senior. An All-NEC First Team selection, Maurer scored three game-winning goals on the season. The Northampton, MA native, earned the NEC Player of the Week honor on Oct. 2 after scoring the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson and adding a goal and assist in a 6-1 win against Wagner. Maurer tallied 10 career goals and seven assists in 64 games played and was the top vote-getter among midfielders for the NEWISA Senior Bowl.
Pearse, who will also be playing in the NEWISA Senior Bowl, earned All-NEC First Team honors as a senior after leading the team with 25 points and 11 goals. Pearse also earned Northeast Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player after scoring three goals in the tournament, including both goals in a 2-1 semifinal win over Fairleigh Dickinson, and helping CCSU to its ninth conference title. The forward also scored the game's opening goal in CCSU's NCAA Tournament game at top-seeded Georgetown. Pearse finished her career with 21 goals and six assists.
Alterisio was the 2018 Northeast Conference Defender of the Year and earned First Team honors. She started all 20 games in the Central defense. She scored the game-winning goal in a win over Mount St. Mary's during the season, while helping anchor a Blue Devils defense that ranked 21st nationally with a 0.636 goals against average and 22nd in shutout percentage (.550).
CCSU finished the season with a 16-2-2 record overall and were unbeaten in league play with a perfect 8-0 mark. The Blue Devils won the Northeast Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
