Pearse Scores for Women’s Soccer in 1-1 Tie vs. Siena
Central hosts Yale on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.
Central Connecticut ended with a 1-1 tie to Siena in women's soccer action in New Britain, CT, on Sunday afternoon. Senior Danielle Pearse tailed the only goal for CCSU, with both teams scoring in the second half.
CCSU is now 1-1-1 on the season, while the Saints are 2-1-1 overall.
The Blue Devils opened the game's at the 55:58 minute mark when Pearse collected a loose ball near the Siena penalty box and sent a shot into the top right corner.
Central remained in the lead for 20 minutes before freshman Emily McNelis tied it. The shot came off a corner kick by Haleigh Schanz and the ball fell to McNellis who made it 1-1 at the 78:37 mark.
The score would remain tied through two overtime periods to settle the result. The Blue Devils finished the game with 14 shots, the Saints had seven.
Senior Ashley Cavanaugh made five saves for CCSU in the game, while Siena's Taylor Dorado had six.
CCSU will return to action when it hosts Yale on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at CCSU Soccer Field.
